Check out this event with an Ashoka Fellow in NYC!
-Katharine
---------------

Women Advancing Microfinance - New York (WAM-NY) invites you to an evening of cocktails and conversation on June 7th with Jean Claude Rodríguez-Ferrera Massons, Founder and Director of the Association for Self-Funded Communities (ACAF). ACAF is an NGO founded in 2004 that aims to contribute to local community development through the creation of Self-Funded Communities (SFCs).

The SFCs are groups of 10 to 30 low-income people that buy shares to create a credit fund to finance themselves. There is no external money involved. Only members can invest in the group. As owners, they decide the credit conditions - interest rate, terms, collateral - and they receive all the benefits of the credit activity. It is completely self-managed and self-funded.

Join us to learn first-hand about the Self-Funded Communities Model and how a savings group is created.
