NYU Reynolds Social Entrepreneurship Events - April 18 and 25

Just heard about this from a friend. Enjoy!

Two Great NYU Reynolds Social Entrepreneurship Events - April 18 and 25

The NYU Reynolds Program in Social Entrepreneurship (www.nyu.edu/reynolds) is pleased to conclude the 2011-12 Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century Speaker Series with two outstanding events in April.

Join us on April 18, 6:30pm - 8:00pm as we partner with the NYU Heyman Center for Philanthropy’s Speaker Series to welcome Pop!Tech Curator and futurist Andrew Zolli.  Andrew will explore why, in a time marked by upheaval -from natural disasters and economic crises to political turmoil and climate change- some systems, people and communities fall apart in the face of disruption, and how they can learn to bounce back. He will be introduced by New Media expert Clay Shirky.  The event takes place in the Rosenthal Pavilion, NYU Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square South, 10th floor, New York, NY.   It is free and open to the public, but space is limited and an RSVP is required by clicking here or by cutting and pasting http://bit.ly/FOmpTh into your browser.

Join us again on April 25, 12:00pm - 1:30pm as we welcome Peace Corps Director Aaron Williams and City Year CEO and Co-founder Michael Brown in a conversation moderated by former Atlantic Philanthropies CEO and President, and NYU Wagner Senior Fellow Gara LaMarche. So you want to change the world? The starting place is service. Come learn how serving your country and serving the world through civic engagement can both change who you are and make the planet a more equitable, peaceful, and sustainable place. The event takes place at NYU Wagner’s Rudin Family Forum in The Puck Building, 295 Lafayette Street, 2nd floor, New York, NY. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited an RSVP is required by clicking here or by cutting and pasting http://bit.ly/w78XAr into your browser.

Now in its sixth year, the Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century Speaker Series features a remarkable selection of social entrepreneurs and related leaders who have launched extraordinary programs, companies and movements addressing the most pressing challenges of the 21st century. (The series was recently cited by Entrepreneur Magazine’s website as one of the five most important tools for social entrepreneurs; http://bit.ly/Av6uwp.) Reflecting the NYU Reynolds belief that social entrepreneurship is a meta-profession drawing on cross-disciplinary knowledge and practice, the series presents prominent social entrepreneurs and leaders from across the spectrum of public and professional sectors who share their insights as cutting-edge, far reaching change makers.

To learn more about the NYU Reynolds Speaker Series, and to access our audio and video library of previous speakers, click here or cut and paste http://bit.ly/p9Y2 into your browser. The audio and video library is also available from the podcast section of iTunes. Search NYU Reynolds Program.

Dear WAM Members and Friends,

Networking is a vital part of both your personal and professional success in this challenging business environment. However, unlike what most people think, networking is not about asking for something.

Join us on April 25th for a "hands-on" one-hour seminar on advanced networking strategies. Learn how to master the 4 major stages of networking. It's not just about meeting people, but also about making a lasting impression! Get practical suggestions on how to incorporate networking into your day-to-day life. Learn to identify and attract the people who can support you.

Connie

Guest speaker Connie Thanasoulis-Cerrachio, career coach and
co-founder of SixFigureStart.

Do these questions resonate with you?: Do you know how to leverage and maximize the power of your network?  Do you know how to introduce yourself and develop rapport with people? Are you clear? Do people remember you?

This workshop includes:
*       The four stages of networking;
*       How to maintain and deepen your network;
*       Why mentors should be a vital part of your network;
*       How to network during different venues:  industry mixers,
        business meetings, conferences and training sessions;
