July 2 (event tonight) for a great cause

Another StartingBloc Fellow I know is having a fundraiser party in Brooklyn tonight.  The purpose is to help raise money so she can pay her college tuition (financial aid doesn't cover everything) so she can keep inspiring young people to take action to lead the lives they want to lead.... It should be a great party and she's doing terrific work, so check it out!
Cheers,
Katharine

Over the past 3 months I have been applying for Financial Aid – submitting paperwork and re-submitting paperwork, to only be informed that the funding will not cover the entirety of my Fall 2011 bill, and I have until July 7th, 2011 to raise the remaining balance: $2,000.

My Purpose:
Is to inspire young people into action

Here is what I have been up to:
  • I have created The SWT Life Conversation which is a pilot program designed to provide (teens ages 14-17) with a clear understanding of how to use their passions, strengths and purpose drive their scholastic and life success.
  • Just BE Cause which is a collection of stories, anecdotes, and wisdom from community leaders, innovators, leverage experts, executive directors and CEOs.  The book breaks down Social Entrepreneurship – providing definitions, examples, and history, – and ultimately advises Gen Y on how to use our unique values and ideology to create social change and spread the world’s wealth while doing it.
  • In addition countless articles herehere and here and my first published article in CARTER Magazine. Hunter College has really been a catalyst thus far, in terms of providing me with the tools necessary to continue my quest.
I am committed to ensuring that every young person is inspired to take action, and is aware that they can cultivate their future today. This is not an easy request for me to ask, as I prefer to figure things out on my own.  However my commitment to youth is much bigger than me.  So I am asking for your support.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Ways you can help me out :) :

1.  You can come to the event tomorrow at Alchemist Lounge and we can do the Dougie
2.  You can mail it to me if preferred (Please respond to email for my address)
3.  PayPal (I am searchable under syreeta.gates@gmail.com)

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, You're Far too Kind in Advance :)
