If you haven't heard of Room to Read, it's a terrific - and fast-scaling - nonprofit started by ex-Microsoft exec, John Wood. I've read his book, Leaving Microsoft to Change the World, and it's very inspiring.

SAVE THE DATE: OCT 1st Screening of Half the Sky, the new film from Nick Kristof and Sheryl Wudunn. Room to Read is featured on Night One. TRAVEL and LEISURE Global Bazaar *** Volunteers Needed!!! ****** Room to Read has been selected as Travel and Leisure's official charitable partner for their annual Global Bazaar. As part of their as part of this travel showcase we will have a chance to introduce new people to the organization and raise money for Room to Read! If you are up for a night of amazing food, wine, music, performances, and shopping from around the world, then volunteer for the Travel and Leisure Global Bazaar event in NYC from September 28-30 with the nonprofit organization Room to Read. It’s all for a good cause and a great way to meet new and exciting people! The 5 sessions are highlighted below – we need volunteers to sign up for these sessions. BONUS: If you volunteer for one session, you get a FREE ticket to attend another session! EVENT OVERVIEW Who: 5,000 Affluent Travel Enthusiasts 50M/50F Urban, Style-Driven, College-Educated Professionals 28-54 What: Throughout six sessions and three days, the Travel + Leisure Global Bazaar will bring sensory installations, authentic culinary experiences, unique merchandise for sale, live performances and more to New York City.
