Walk Brooklyn - Bedford Avenue, Saturday 6/18

This is something that my friends are doing that you can also come check out, and maybe do on your own sometime too!
Cheers,
Katharine

This Saturday will be one of the bigger field trips of the summer: The Bedford Avenue Walk. We'll see 5 or 6 neighborhoods, and a true cross-section of the ethnic and architectural diversity of the borough of Brooklyn.

Here's the deal:

TIME: 10:30am to eat and mingle. We're leaving at 11:00 with or without you! Be sure to check your trains for weekend service changes http://travel.mtanyct.info/serviceadvisory/

START: Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop, 727 Manhattan Avenue (close to the Nassau Ave stop on the G). If it's crowded we'll loiter outside. Bonus points if you take the new East River Ferry to Greenpoint (it opened today and is free for the first 10 days!). http://www.nywaterway.com/ERF-Home.aspx

ROUTE: We'll walk south on Bedford all way to Sheepshead Bay (10.2 miles) then cut over the Brighton Beach and possibly Coney Island. It should take about 3 hours end-to-end, longer if we make any stops.

BRING: Comfortable shoes (think 10 miles + 80 degrees), bathing suit for post-walk cool-down.
