Nov. 29-Dec 4 events in tech / innovation / startups

There are a few overlaps between Designers Bulletin and Charlie O'Donnell's email list "This Week in New York Innovation" (i.e. the Ignite and the Food+Hack parties), but there's enough new info here that's worth sharing so...here's the post!  (You can also sign up for emails at www.thisisgoingtobebig.com).
Cheers,

Monday, November 29th

3:30PM Susan Crawford at NYU

Susan Crawford (former Special Assistant to President Obama for Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy) will talk about the state of telecommunications policy in the United States today.  This talk is part of Evan Korth's Computers and Society speaker series sponsored by NYU-ACM and ISOC-NY.  And no, she did not pop the President in the mouth trying to pull down an offensive rebound.

6:30PM Be Thankful for Short Scala Talks

It's getting cold, sort of, and everyone is reviewing their finances to see how many MacBooks Air they can afford to give (themselves) this year. But what would a holiday season be without sharing stories by the fire?

It would be terrible! So we're having a special meetup exclusively composed of five-minute talks. Yes, speakers will really be limited to five minutes: we're using Hack and Tell's patented "kill them with kindness" lightning talk timer. It's better this way.

7PM The Product Group

Wind Products is dedicated to making distributed wind turbines more viable in places where people live and work.  Sounds like an awesome company.  I'd like a wind turbine.  I hear that GaryVee is moving towards being powered by at least 15% renewable energy by the end of the year.  Of course, the remainder will still come from a potent mixture of Malbec, Redbull, and Darrelle Revis sweat.
