High Water Women's Young Women's Council (YWC) is presenting a two part series entitled "Women in Finance and an Introspective Look at Our Careers". What better way to kick off 2011 than furthering our careers by gaining a better understanding of how to present ourselves when it's our turn to brag (i.e. performance review time) and a focus on the role of our mentors and sponsors.
PART I: Book Discussion: "Brag! The Art of Tooting Your Own Horn without Blowing It" by Peggy Klaus
Date:
Wednesday, February 16th  (rescheduled after snow storm)
Time: 7 PM-8:30 PM
Location: Midtown Wine Bar - Details TBA
We look forward to a great discussion on how to "self-promote" in a sincere and effective way! This is a great introduction to Peggy Klaus' book, ahead of the April "Brag Party" hosted by Peggy for high school juniors from the Young Women's Leadership Schools. Reading the book before hand is definitely not necessary but is recommended.  Sign up now… we have a few seats left!
PART II: Round Table Discussion & Networking on the Harvard Business School Case Study: "Why Men Still Get More Promotions than Women"
Date:
Wednesday, February 23rd
Time: 7 PM-9:00 PM
Location: TBA
Sponsorship versus mentorship? What's the difference? And why is it important to us as women? Meet us for a conversation on why sponsorship matters, especially for women. We look forward to your thoughts as well! A 10 minute interview with the author can be found here:  http://hbr.org/2010/09/why-men-still-get-more-promotions-than-women/ar/1
