WORKSHOP 5: NOVEMBER 15th - Generate Revenue: Funding Your Social Enterprise or Nonprofit
The 5th session of our workshops series, Building High Impact Organizations: Creating Financial Sustainability for Social Enterprises and Nonprofits, will focus on how to put together a strategic business plan in order to prepare your enterprise to receive funding.
When you’re in startup mode, it can be a race against time to secure funding. Whether you’re running a social enterprise or a nonprofit, you need money to achieve your mission, to pay staff and to keep the lights on. Before you can secure funding, be it from angel investors, venture capitalists, program officers from foundations or philanthropists, you need a clearly articulated business plan so investors and funders feel confident that you will spend the money you receive wisely. With your plan in hand and a polished pitch, you’ll be ready to approach investors and major donors. The money is out there. The question is, “Are you prepared to receive it?”
Zoravar S. Dhaliwal has an extensive background in finance and holds an M.B.A. from the prestigious Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Shana Dressler is the co-founder of the Social Innovators Collective, a dynamic, energetic network of emerging founders, leaders and individuals who work in the social enterprise and nonprofit spaces. Since February 2009, Shana has concentrated on building unique giving communities through the Global Giving Circle and Global Gifts That Matter, an online gift emporium supporting high-impact nonprofits and social enterprises through the sale of gifts and gift donations. http://www. socialinnovatorscollective.org
