WORKSHOP 4: NOVEMBER 8th - Get Organized: Corporate Structuring from 7-9pm at General Assembly

The 4th session of the 5 part workshops series, Building High Impact Organizations: Creating Financial Sustainability for Social Enterprises and Nonprofits, will focus on legal structures for social enterprises and nonprofit organizations.

Learning about available legal structures for social enterprises and nonprofit organizations, and choosing the right corporate structure for your venture, is one of the savviest steps toward sustainability a social innovator can take. This workshop will cover structures such as 501(c)(3), L3C, benefit corporations, B Corp certification, LLCs, and other corporate entities. With the knowledge of corporate structuring and the power of the market, attendees will be ready to create positive social and environmental change. This workshop includes a presentation providing an overview of all corporate structures available to social enterprises, and an interactive breakout session where attendees form mock corporations based on innovative business models.

Kyle Westaway is a social entrepreneur and attorney in New York City with a track record of championing social ventures that make a real positive impact on the world around them. He is a Founding Partner of Westaway Law, an innovative law firm that counsels social entrepreneurs, and a firm believer in the power of the market to create positive social and environmental change.
